Green Flag Schools Create Ning Online Social Network
The Green Flag Schools Program has created an online social network for all participants. This is an opportunity to share information, post pictures of events, and ask questions to each other as we all strive to raise to the challenge of protecting our environment and make our schools safer and healthier. To join the Green Flags Schools Network, please email Renee at childproofing@chej.org . It is a private network and you must be invited with proof of your work in the Green Flag Program in order to access.

There are few state and no federal law banning the building of schools on or near sources of pollution. CHEJ has created several ways in which you can take action in your community and school district to make sure that your local community is doing everything it can to protect students and school staff from the unnecessary exposure to toxins.

Pesticides Banned at Schools in Connecticut!
On June 5, 2007 the Connecticut House of Representatives passed HB 5234, An Act Banning Pesticide Use on School Grounds with an overwhelming 140-9 vote. The bill would phase out the use of lawn pesticides in primary and middle schools up to 8th grade. The bill will now be sent to Governor Rell's desk to be signed into law.
