Westtown School
Westtown, PA

Students and staff at Westtown School are making improvements to environmental practices with the Green Flag Program. The program has provided Westtown with the structure the school needed to take their commitment to the environment seriously, and to achieve environmental results in their school.

The Green Flag Program has encouraged the school to be systematic and thoughtful about making the needed changes so that they have a truly lasting impact on the school. Addressing the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle issue area first, the Earth Services club has already made recycling improvements that will last long after they have graduated from the school.

Westtown has also hosted a regional meeting for Quaker Schools to look at issues relating to the removal of toxic cleaning products from their schools, and the introduction of Integrated Pest Management procedures. More than a dozen schools participated in the regional meeting.

The sky is the limit for environmental achievement at Westtown School!

The Green Flag Program is a project of the national Child Proofing Our Communities Campaign, coordinated by the Center for Health Environment and Justice.
